  • Genetic Testing in Guiding Treatment for Patients With Brain Metastases

    open to eligible people ages 18 years and up

    This phase II trial studies how well genetic testing works in guiding treatment for patients with solid tumors that have spread to the brain. Several genes have been found to be altered or mutated in brain metastases such as NTRK, ROS1, CDK or PI3K. Medications that target these genes such as abemaciclib, GDC-0084, and entrectinib may stop the growth of tumor cells by blocking some of the enzymes needed for cell growth. Genetic testing may help doctors tailor treatment for each mutation.

  • A Study of Abemaciclib (LY2835219) in Participants With Breast Cancer, Non-small Cell Lung Cancer, or Melanoma That Has Spread to the Brain

    The main purpose of this study is to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the study drug known as abemaciclib in participants with hormone receptor positive breast cancer, non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), or melanoma that has spread to the brain.

  • Corticosteroids + Bevacizumab vs. Corticosteroids + Placebo (BEST) for Radionecrosis After Radiosurgery for Brain Metastases

    This randomized phase II study aims to investigate whether the addition of bevacizumab to standard corticosteroid therapy results in greater improvement in symptoms and less treatment-induced symptoms compared with standard corticosteroid therapy for patients with symptomatic brain radionecrosis following radiosurgery. It is hypothesized that the addition of bevacizumab to standard care corticosteroids will reduce treatment-induced toxicities and improve neurologic impairments in patients with brain radionecrosis following radiosurgery for brain metastases.

  • Ropidoxuridine and Whole Brain Radiation Therapy in Treating Patients With Brain Metastases

    This phase I trial studies the side effects and best dose of ropidoxuridine when given together with whole brain radiation therapy in treating patients with cancer that has spread to the brain. Ropidoxuridine may help whole brain radiation therapy work better by making cancer cells more sensitive to the radiation therapy.
